The sapphire is a gemstone variety of the mineral corundum. Trace amounts of other elements such as iron, titanium, chromium, copper or magnesium can give corundum blue, yellow, pink, purple, orange, or green color.
The name of sapphire originated from the Greek word "sappheiros", meaning 'blue stone'. The sapphire represents sincerity and faithfulness. Usually the sapphire is set into necklace or as a pendant wore around neck to show dignity, or as a protection symbol against poison and harm.
