- Ball Shape. A "Cinderella" style dress with a big, full and round skirt.
- A-line. Just as the name implies, the shape of an "A", narrow at the bodice and widen from the bodice down.
- Empire. Gown with a high waist that is extended just below the bust, from where the skirt spreads.
- Basque. The waist in this style is several inches below the natural waistline and forms a "U" or a "V" shape.
